It was 2012 and I was climbing the corporate career ladder at a FTSE 100 company. I was working with exciting brands like Durex, I was travelling the world with work and I even had the honour of presenting to our CEO (about sex toys 😅).

And through all of this success, I feel fantastically horrible in my skin.

I'm sitting in 'adult meetings' feeling like a spotty teenager no one will take seriously.

Wondering if my oil slick of a T-zone is melting off my makeup.

Feeling ashamed and embarrassed giving presentations, and worrying about my cystic chin acne being all anyone can focus on.

I don't know who to turn to for help.

I feel silly & vain for caring so much about my skin.

But one day I know something has to change. The health of my skin is wrecking my confidence & self-esteem. If I don't do something about it now, it's only going to get worse.

So with sweaty palms & a racing heart, I go see a pharmacist.

With beautifully clear skin he says to me, 'There's nothing that can be done about acne. You're just going to have to accept and live with it'.

It feels like a dagger plunging deep into my heart.

Nothing is ever going to help me get clear, happy skin. I'm going to be stuck with these mountainous, red, angry, embarrassing cystic breakouts forever.

I look back and see this was my mark in the sand. The moment I say to myself - I do not accept living with acne forever. My skin's been clear, balanced & healthy before it can be clear, balanced & healthy again.

And so I dive into published & proven science papers, I read dermatology textbooks till my eyes are sore, I train as a cosmetic formulator and I trial everything I discover.

And guess what... I finally take back control of my skin health. I finally get clear, confident skin and I finally start to feel like myself again.
